Getting your hair and makeup simply right for the appropriate photo is not easy, but social media big name Aimee Song makes it seem like a cinch. We spoke with the blogger and Laura Mercier ambassador to get the news on her ordinary beauty and a way to take an advanced selfie.
You are usually jet-setting around the world. What is your journey need to-haves?
Ong flights dehydrate my skin, so I keep a big bag of beauty products to help me stay moisturized. Once I board, I rub down three-4 drops of Laura Mercier’s Infusion de Rose Nourishing Oil ($ sixty-two; lauramercier.Com) and rubdown it in with circular motions to help moisturize my pores and skin. I also like to use a Korean sheet mask from Peach & Lily ($26; peachandlily.Com)
When I fly, I usually convey lipstick so that when I get off the aircraft, my appearance is more polished. I constantly have lipstick with me so that after I get off the plane, I look more polished. As for garb, I put on a sweatshirt and Philip Lim pants—and comfy footwear! In reality, I love the Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Coloration in Boudoir.

I style my hair commonly. However, I am getting a satisfactory haircut from my stylist, Ahn Co Tran. If you look at my older haircuts, they have weighed me down. However, I’ve been getting plenty of compliments because I went shorter. I use a wand (Conair Infiniti You Curling Iron, $40; cvs.Com) to feature in a few waves. And I try not to apply several pieces of merchandise in my hair now. I’ll often practice a bit of body lotion on my dry ends to feature shine and preserve.
What are your makeup necessities?
I use a lightweight tinted moisturizer ($44; lauramercier.Com) with SPF. I’m also captivated with filling brows in. I take advantage of the pencil duo ($25; lauramercier.Com); that is my absolute should. I’m so satisfied I found a highlighter (Laura Mercier Face Illuminator, $ forty-four; lauramercier.Com) —it can make a big difference, mainly in photos. I love to use it to the high points of my cheekbones and towards the outer corners of my face, the bottom of my chin, and the end of my nose. I also like to pat a touch at the cupid’s bow.
What has been your biggest beauty mistake?
I’d tell sixteen-yr-old Aimee no longer to shave off her eyebrows. They take forever to develop the lower back!
Now, what are your pointers for taking the right selfie?
In terms of splendor, the most critical aspect is your attitude. You want to be assured. If you don’t sense confidence, you’ll no longer like the photograph, no matter what number of pictures you take. And then, lighting is the whole lot. If I take a selfie, I ensure the light is in front of me. Then, take like fifty-seven photographs, and maybe one will be k. I like VSCO to filter and the photo equipment within Instagram. I play with the contrast, sharpen and straighten equipment to ideal the photo.
