Surprise Girls Tech, in which Automattic was a sponsor, is a conference that highlights Ladies in STEAM (technological know-how, technology, engineering, arts, and math) and affords a discussion board for discussing critical topics around the range. The two-day occasion drew over 150 audio systems, all successful marketers or commercial enterprise leaders, who shared their triumphs, failings and learned lessons.
The conference provided academic possibilities to some location students attending on scholarships. My colleagues and I presented a half-day workshop on “WordPress for the Start Entrepreneur” as a part of the Junior Innovator Camp aimed at teens aged thirteen-17. First, we taught the scholars how to create websites using WordPress.Com, such as how to customize the look and sense of a site. After that, we walked them through an arms-on branding exercise that explored how to provide you with a product or service, how to make your enterprise unique, and what styles of human beings your business might appeal to.
We rounded the entirety out with a crash route in advertising earlier than the scholars shared their groups with us. Twenty-one college students (and their mother and father) attended this event.
